Literary critic, like others, is influenced by the knowledge and literary experience that he/she has acquired during the different stages of their life.

Their experience and knowledge play an infiluential role in directing their reading of the literary text.

This genetic knowledge builds the base to what psychiatrist Jean Piaget calls "he Genetic epistemology”.

Genetic epistemology was developed by contemporary literary critic Murad Abdul Rahman Mabruk in what he calls "he genetic vision” that he applies to the poetic text.

Based on these two terms, this study analyses the epistemological dimenstions behind the interpretation of the nostalgic section in al-Mualaqat poems, as a model of the old poetic text, by a number of contemporary literary critics.

This study tries to prove that the genetic knowledge and the experience of the literary critic during the different stages of his/her life have an impact on his/her perception and interpretation of the poetic text.
