Abstract EN

Adolescence is one of the most important stages in human life during which an individual may be exposed to irrational thoughts.

This study examines the relationship between irrational thoughts and tendency towards extremism among third year secondary school students in Afif Governorate.

The study population consists of 253 female and male third year secondary school students in Afif.

The study used the descriptive method in which the researcher used the (irrational thoughts) scale designed by (Rihani) and the measure of attitudes towards extremism proposed by (Amani Hassan).

The study found that there is a negative inverse relationship between irrational ideas and the subjects’ attitude towards extremism in all its dimensions, also it showed that there are no statistically significant differences in irrational ideas and the tendency towards extremism with regard to the variable of the academic system.

The most important recommendations of the study are that there is a need to use the method of rational and emotional therapy in school guidance and a need to engage students in scientific activities and forums so that they can interact with experts and to raise their intellectual level.
