Abstract EN

The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of awareness of the graduate students at Zarqa University towards the availability of OPACs and the degree of their usage.

A questionnaire was constructed and validated.

The sample of the study consisted of (67) graduates from four colleges.

Findings demonstrated that (70.15) percent of students were aware of the OPAC of the university library, but only (%36) of them used this catalog.

The study also revealed that (%58.2) of respondents have used this catalog for finding books, (%29.8) for finding articles, (%22.3) of respondents used the OPAC for searching electronic databases.

Results of chi-square test revealed that there was no significant difference in the level of usage of the University Library OPAC due to sex or type of college.

There was significant difference in the level of usage of this OPAC between first year and second year students in favor of the first year students.

In the light of the results, this study provided some relevant recommendations.
