Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the relationship between the locus of control and anxiety in parents of children with down syndrome and detects differences between them in each anxiety and control source according to the sex variable; we used the correlative approach.

Our sample consisted of 60 parents, on which we applied the locus of control scale of Rotter and the anxiety scale of Spielberger — after confirming their sincerity and stability.

The data processing was carried out by the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS).

We concluded that: there is a significant correlative relationship between the external locus of control and the anxiety in parents of down children, there is no relationship between the internal locus of control and the anxiety as state in parents of down children, there are no statistically significant differences in the degrees of locus of control and anxiety in parents of down children which can be attributed to the variable of parent sex.
