Abstract EN

This paper aims to highlight the reality of the agro-food industry in Algeria through its contribution to the operation and establishment of value added and its impact on crude production, taxes and trade balance, bearing in mind that the agro-food industry can be an alternative to petroleum once there are favorable conditions for the development of this industry.

However, in our study of the effect of the agro-Food Industry Branch on these economic variables, we noted the weak contribution of the agro-food industry to the economic variables mentioned above, especially for the deteriorating public sector, which may disappear in the coming years in contrast to the private sector, which is known to improve somewhat, the state encourages investors, whether local or foreign, to establish small and medium enterprises in a new economic development program.

This sector can also be considered modern through the use of relatively modern means and tools, which led the private sector to obtain a large proportion of the food industry at the expense of the public sector.
