Linguists have always attempted to search for meaning from the smallest linguistic unit, namely phoneme, to the biggest linguistic unit, that is to say sentence / text.

Hence, we notice that lingual and linguistic books are abundant in semantic theories that have attempted now and then to attain the peak of meaning analysis through these theories.

Doubtlessly, many of these theories could show one semantic aspect of this.

Possibly, the most noticeable of these attempts was that of the theory of semantic features, which tried to analyze the meaning and structure of the word and how it is used formally in the syntactic structure.

Yet, this analysis was not complete as it is limited to the analysis of linguistic meaning only.

Fillmore developed the theory of frames, which is one of the theories of cognitive semantics, because of the shortcomings in the theory of semantic features.

This theory explained the semantic features of each word but it did not determine the nature of the relationship between these features; the fact which created confusion and ambiguity of the meaning.

This confusion of meaning is evident clearly within certain words.

The theory of frames tackled this shortcoming through a number of stereotypical characteristics through which we express our knowledge of things, which is part of the schemes.

The frame is a significant basis in the discourse analysis which works as an overarching concept of all the elements and factors on which the discourse is structured.

Résumé Les linguistes ont toujours tenté de chercher le sens à partir de la plus petite unité linguistique; c'est à dire phonème, à la plus grande unité linguistique, à savoir phrase / texte.

Donc, on trouve des livres linguaux et linguistiques remplis de théories sémantiques qui essayaient de temps en temps d'atteindre le sommet de l'analyse du sens par ces théories.

Indubitablement bien de ces théories ont pu éclaircir un aspect sémantique de celui-ci.

La tentative la plus importante de ces essais était peut-être celle de la théorie des caractéristiques sémantiques, qui visait à analyser le sens et la structure du mot et son utilisation formelle dans la structure syntaxique, mais cette analyse n'était pas complète car elle était limitée à l’analyse linguistique.

Fillmore a développé la théorie des cadres, l'une des théories de la sémantique cognitive, à cause des faiblesses de la théorie des traits sémantiques, qui expliquait les traits sémantiques de chaque mot, mais ne présentait pas la nature de la relation entre ces traits aboutissait à une sorte de confusion et d'ambiguïté dans le sens.

Cette confusion est très évidente dans certains mots.

La théorie des cadres a traité ces lacunes à travers un certain nombre de caractéristiques stéréotypées par lesquelles on exprime la connaissance des choses, qui fait partie des schémas.
