Abstract EN

This study sets up to investigate the changes that have taken place concerning the relationship between men and women in Algeria, marriage and in the balance of the family regarding two cultural models; the old and the modern one, by focusing on a number of Maghreb, Arab and foreign studies on local culture.

Beginning with a question about the most important transformation and differences in the rules governing relations between men and women, how to change the rituals and meaning of marriage, the family structure and the Algerian primary group balance in the past and in the present? We started with the idea that cultural transformations in societies are natural determinism in their path, which can only be dynamic.

Algeria, like all societies, has undergone many stages and cultural changes.

In this study we have displayed these changes using a comparative analytical approach based on the heritage studies of well-known authors in the cultural and social field.

Accordingly, we reached a set of important results that are; - Algerian society has undergone gender relationship changes (male and female).

- Algerian society has undergone transformation of marriage in terms of ceremonial rituals, nature and social representations.

- Algerian society has been subjected to changes in the family structure and its balance in terms of roles and status.All elements that were subjected to analysis in this study faced enduring transformations, therefore, a continuation of social and psychological research line is recommended in this field to cope with the different processes of social and cultural change.
