There is a consensus among researchers on the profound impact of modern linguistics on the conception of the epistemological principles of modern theories in criticism and discourse analysis.

the aim of this contribution is to explore aspects of the influence of linguistics on the conception of contemporary criticism notions by focusing on those of syntagmatic and paradigmatic axis that have formed the basis of contemporary criticism theories and methods, as some currents of stylistics or semiology of Barthe.

This contribution also aims to discuss this problematic: to what extent the two notions mentioned have influenced modern criticism? How could the criticism borrow and integrate them into its domain? Are they adopted as operational tools in critical methods ? Or as levels structuring the text, on which orbit the analysis and reading ?
