This desk study discusses the different theoretical aspects of hospital libraries.

It includes a general introduction, the history of hospital libraries, characteristics and features that distinguish them from other types of libraries.

The study clarifies the objectives, collections, user group, building, furniture and infrastructure, human resources and finally the services provided to users by the hospital library.
