Abstract EN

This article tackles the reform movements in West Africa, the spread of the Islamic religious teachings & the supervision of the followers, and the confrontation of the pagan tide and the Christian proselytism.

In addition to the engagement in a totally comprehensive islamization project throughout disseminating « Sufi » idols widely.

The chief among those reformist movements in the 17th century is the one of Imam Nasir al-Din against the tyranny of the Hassani‟s tribes.

This wali rose up to defend the Islamic religion and to invite the kings of Sudan to convert to it.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, other similar reform movements emerged in West Africa, such as the Movement of Sheikh Osman bin Fudi and the one of his son, Muhammad Blu bin Sheikh Osman bin Fudi, in the Hausa regions.

Afterwards, in the area of « Fouta-Djalon », the movement of Alhaj Omar Bin said El Fouti appeared to establish an Islamic reformist state in a Tijani way, aimed at spreading Islam and fighting paganism and Christianity.

People highly supported the political and spiritual projects of this movement.
