There are conflicting historical accounts of Frankish women participation in the Crusades on Egypt and the Levant, especially in the III Crusade on Acre and the V Crusade on Damietta.

Most Muslim historians and some Arab scholars compared those women soldiers to male knights in terms of command, military equipment, and combat skills.

However, most Crusader and some European historians confined the role of those women soldiers to mobilization and support.

The researcher found that the participation of Frankish women in the battlefields was not as portrayed by both Muslim and Crusader historians.

Their participation was due to personal interests, emotional and religious motives, emergency circumstances, or defensive skills, but not as part of a Crusader war strategy
