Abstract: The study aims at: 1.
Measuring the "self-commitment" of preparatory school students (Fourth grade scientific- study).
2.
Building counseling psychology program based on reality counseling in the developing self-commitment of Preparatory stage Students.
3.
Identify the effectiveness of the program based on reality counseling in the developing "self-commitment" of students in the preparatory stage, by verifying the following hypotheses: Firstly.
There were no statistically significant differences between the scores of the control group members in the pre and posttest on the self-commitment scale.
Second.
There were no statistically significant differences between the scores of the experimental group members in the pre and post-test tests on the self-commitment scale after the implementation of the counseling program.
Third.
There were no statistically significant differences between the grade levels of the two groups (experimental and control) in the post-test on the self-commitment scale after implementation of the counseling program.
In order to verify the objectives and hypotheses of the study, the researcher adopted the experimental design (experimental and controlled group) and the use of (pre-test and post-test).
The study sample consisted of 26 students from the fourth scientific grade, in each group of 13 students.
, And the pilot group was exposed to the counseling program, while the control group was not exposed to it.
The self-commitment measure, consisting of 25 paragraphs, has a psychometric properties , and to build a counseling program based on the reality counseling method in the development of "self-commitment" among junior high school students, According to the theory of reality counseling (William Glasser) , (8) sessions representing the counseling needs of the sample members, The results have been shown: 1.
The members of the sample enjoy "self-commitment".
2.
There are no statistically significant differences between the scores of the members of the control group in the pre and post -test on the self-commitment scale.
The value of the calculated "Wilcoxon" is 27, which is greater than the numerical value of 17 degrees.
3.
There were statistically significant differences between the scores of the experimental group scores in the pre-test and post-test on the self-commitment scale after the implementation of the counseling program for the post-test.
The value of the calculated "Wilcoxon" is "zero" was less than the scale value (17).
4.
There were statistically significant differences between the post-test scores of the experimental and control groups on the self-commitment scale , If the calculated value of ( Mann- Whitiny- U ) is (7) degrees , was less than the (U) tabular value (45) degrees, at the significance level (0.05) For the benefit of the experimental group, which confirms the effectiveness of the counseling program.
