English Abstract

This research was conducted at the University of Babylon and the aim of identifying: 1- Serious creativity among university students.

2- Statistically significant differences in serious creativity according to the variables of gender and academic specialization.

3- The perceived control of university students.

4- Statistical differences in perceived control according to the variables of gender and academic specialization.

The research community consisted of (21200) students in the morning study during the academic year (2016-2017), by (8199) students and (13001) students, while the research sample consisted of (600) students from the third stage students, of whom ( 234 students and 366 students, or about (2.83%) of the research community.

Their selection was random method from (4) colleges, (2) colleges with a scientific specialization, and (2) from colleges with a human specialization.

The researchers adopted the measure prepared by (Al-Janabi, 2013), which adapted by (Al-Jurani, 2010) for the local environment of Edward DeBono (1998) for serious creativity.

For perceived control, one-sample T test, chi-square test for good match use, and binary variance analysis were used to extract the results that resulted in: 1- The low level of serious creativity among university students.

2- There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) in perceived control according to the variables of sex and specialization.

3- The high level of perceived control among university students.

4- There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) in the perceived control according to the gender variable in favor of students, and there are no differences according to the variable of specialization.
