Abstract EN

A critical extensive study was conducted on The Egyptian Code for Fire Protection of Structures as compared to The United Arab Emirates Fire Code, with emphasis on deficient clauses, and detailed recommendations of essential modifications were developed for treating these deficiencies, either by modification, omission or suggesting new clauses that were totally neglected in the Egyptian fire code.

Based on the critical comparative study of both codes, Evaluation Forms in the shape of tables were designed and developed to assess the degree of resistance of buildings to fire.

To demonstrate the mechanism of using these evaluation tables, case studies of three different existing buildings were presented to show how to calculate the degree of safety against fire hazards of each building before and after possible rehabilitation
