Abstract EN

The study aimed at identifying the mental rigidity and its impact on the competitive behavior of the Jordanian basketball team.

The sample of the study consisted of (12) female players and (12) male players from the Jordanian basketball team.

The scale of the Physical Rigidity of James Loehr, (1986) and the Competitive Behavior Measure of Dorothy Harris (1984) were used by the researchers.The statistical analysis was performed on SPSS.

The results indicated that mental rigidity has a positive relation to the competitive behavior of players and players of the Jordanian basketball team.

Besides, there were no significant statistical differences at the level of significance (α 00.05) due to sex.

It was recommended to apply mental strength training on Athletes in all sports.
