Prisoners of war issue was considered an important case in history due to the high number of wars that have been broken out between countries throughout history.

These wars resulted deaths, prisoners and wounded.

The Holy Quran, as the most important source of Islamic legislation, explains how to deal with prisoners of war from the first moment of captivity until the moment of their release.

In addition, Prophet's Hadiths came to emphasize Islam's clear position of prisoners of war, and their rights throughout their captivity until their release..

In the 19th and 20th centuries, after the long wars of the European continent and which ended with the first and second world wars, millions of people died, and thousands of prisoners confiscated their freedom, except the wounded.

Therefore, the nations of the world worked together to alleviate the scourge of war, in particular the countless violations committed against the prisoners.

The Hague Conventions of (1899 AD) and (1907 AD), followed by the Fourth Geneva Convention (1949AD), all dealt with the treatment of prisoners of war.
