Abstract EN

This study aimed to understand the reality of medical error management in the hospitals of Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza Strip.

Researchers used descriptive analytical method to achieve the objectives of the study, The researcher used the comprehensive survey method in the distribution of the questionnaire on the study population which consisted of 240 employees of the General Managers, directors of departments , heads of medical departments and supporting clinical support at government hospitals.

The results of the study showed that medical errors management level does not rise to the required level, the study clarified that is no reporting and documentation mechanisms of medical errors in hospitals.

The study showed that there are medical records to document the health services provided to patients, also showed the lack of effective and clear system of accountability of hospitals.

The study recommended the adoption of models and specific mechanisms for reporting medical errors creation of a system and clear policy for documenting medical errors .Obligation of all workers in the medical field by documentation of all health services in the medical record of the patient, and the creation of a legal system and legislative regarding the medical accountability to keep both the patients and the health workers rights
