This paper examines trends in the distribution of consumer spending in Algeria, as an alternative indicator of income used by developed countries as a criterion for measuring the development of living standards, identifying inequality, income dispersion, concentration and quotas of the various social groups of total income, both rural and urban.

Poverty and misery, and the decline in standards of living in rural areas characterized by the spread of agricultural activity, and the associated migration of their owners towards the urban areas with jobs in the industrial and services sector, which led to overcrowded cities, The emergence of appropriate economic and social policies aimed at containing the poor and middle-income classes.
