Abstract AR
Abstract EN
Freedom of expression is embodied in Article 13 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, so that children can express themselves freely and participate in decisions that affect their lives without pressure and that states must abstain to enforce the ideas and opinions it wishes to express.
This right is a benchmark for assessing how children are perceived by society.
It also helps to describe the situation of children.
Are their rights respected, protected or violated? However, it is difficult to say that freedom of expression is an absolute freedom, since its effects extend to others and to society.
The country's authority imposes limits on this freedom to prevent the violation of the rights of others and the maintenance of public safety.
The states are varied in their restriction of this freedom, some give narrow spaces to express themselves, contrary to others, broaden the space of expression in accordance with the international conventions which attach great importance to this freedom.
