This study proposes to examine the historical image of the region of Hedjaz in the beginnings of the 10th c H / 16th c J.

C through the Italian Ludovico Di Varthema’s travel which browsed the most countries of the Muslim East.

In his travel which the main aims was to visit the Muslim Holy Land in Arabia, Di Varthema provided a detailed description of many Hedjaz routes and cities with their sites and monuments.

In addition, this traveler recalled precious and rare information about the aspects of economic and social life in different areas of the region of Hedjaz
