the contribution of Almohad cities in the commercial prosperity in the Islamic Maghreb During the Almohad period the Islamic Maghreb enjoyed security and political stability.

It experienced a flowering of commercial activity due to the economic assets that it enjoyed including a great territorial space with different environmental zones and a wide variety of agricultural and mineral resources.

With its great economic potentialities the Almohad Empire was able to form wideranging trade relations with neighboring states in the Mashriq, Europe, and Western Bilad al-Sudan.

Both cities and commercial centers that were located along major land trade routes such as Sijilmasa, Fez, Marrakech, Tlemcen, Tahart, and Aghmat, as well as ports such as Sabta, Almeria, Tangiers, Oran, Tripoli, Tinis, and Honein, played a major role in stimulating commercial activity.
