In this study, we are interested in particular in the phenomenon of the passive in Standard Arabic (SA).
We will start by examining its semantic value and its syntactic particularities compared to those of the French passive which seem to us at the origin of the difficulties confronted in the Arabic translation of the French agentive passive.
We will argue that the agent notion is strictly limited to the lexical feature (+human) in (SA), and that the passive in classical standard Arabic (CSA) is primarily non agentive by the very fact that it is (-human), We will support finally that the agentive passive in Modem Standard Arabic (MSA) concerns the phenomenon of the syntactic borrowing.
It is probably generated by the latent but persistent influence of the translation of the English and French corresponding structures.

Dans cette étude, nous nous intéresserons en particulier au phénomène du passif en arabe standard (AS).
Nous commencerons par examiner sa valeur sémantique et ses particularités syntaxiques par rapport à celles du passif français, lesquelles nous semblent à l’origine des difficultés affrontées dans la traduction en arabe du passif agentif français.
Nous argumenterons que la notion d’agent est strictement limitée en AS au trait lexical [+humain], et que le passif en arabe standard classique (ASC) est essentiellement non agentif du fait même qu’il est [-humain].
Nous soutiendrons enfin que le passif agentif en arabe standard modern (ASM) relève du phénomène de l’emprunt syntaxique.
Il est très probablement engendré par l’influence latente mais persistante de la traduction des structures anglaises et françaises correspondantes.
