Abstract EN

The purpose of the present study to investigate the status of selling books at Al-Farahedi culture and book street and the type of books according to the following variables, the subjects that the street visitors focus on, age, gender, profession, field of study, social status, purpose of visiting and the opinion in regards to it and the factors leading to abstaining from reading.

Interview and questionnaire were used to gather data and the research method utilized is a descriptive method (survey) and the data was analyzed by SPPS for statistical tests.

The research population was comprised of 18 book shops and 200 people concerned about selling and displaying them.

The results of the study were as follows: Al-Farahidi Street has been developing since its establishment in 2015.

The number of libraries in which there were (6) libraries reached 22 in 2018, There are many activities organized in Al Farahidi Street such as dialogues and artistic activities as well as the presentation and sale of sources of information, And that the main purposes of visitors to the street Farahidi to visit the street are first to see what is presented books and sources of information and second purchase of books and sources of information.
