Abstract EN

The goal of this study is to study the believes of the arabic learners and teachers concerning the learning and teaching of this language and the impact those believes have on the learning operation.

This study has included students that are not arabic speakers and their teachers from the Arabic Language Teaching Institute of Imam Mohamed Ben Saoud Islamic University in Ryadh It adopted two methods: the quantitative (questionnaires) and the qualitative method (interviews).

The study was also preceded by two studies: the exploratory one and the primary one to verify the research tools.

The sample included the 142 students of the year 2007 and their 32 teachers.

As concerns the interviews, there were undertaken with 36 students and 12 teachers.

The questionnaire analysis was done by using (SPSS) program and the (Mann-Whitney) test, whereas the NVIVO program was used in the qualitative analysis.

Through this study, we attempt to show how much was the teaching operation influenced by the diversity of the believes held by the learners (students) and those held by the teachers.

It is concluded by some recommendations that can help the teachers of arabic, the learners as well as the school program developers.

Abstract FRE

L objectif dc cette etude est de connaitre les opinions des apprenants et des enseignants concernant Papprentissage de la langue arabe et leur impact sur Poperation de Papprentissage.

Cette etude a englobe des etudiants non arabophones et leurs enseignants de PInstitut de la Langue arabe k PUniversite Islamique Imam Mohamed Ben Saoud a Riyad.

Nous avons adopte deux methodes: la quantitative (sondage) et la qualitative (les entrevues).

Elle a ete precedcc par deux autres etudes, Pune exploratoire et Pautrc priliminaire pour verifier la fiabilite des outils de recherche.

Cet cchantillon comprend tous les 142 etudiants de PannEe 2007, sans compter les enseignants dont le nombre a atteint 32.

Quant aux entrevues, elles ont concerne 36 etudiants ct 12 enseignants.

L’analyse du sondage a ete cffectuee en utilisant le programme (SPSS) ct Pexamen dc (Man-Witney), et celle de Panalyse qualitative par le programme (NN'ivo).

Cette etude a essaye de faire apparaitre le degre d’influence que les divergences des opinions des etudiants et de leurs enseignants a eut sur Poperation d’apprentissage.

II en decoule quelques recommandations pouvant etrc utiles aux enseignants de la langue arabe, k leurs etudiants et aux concepteurs du curriculum scolairc.
