During the periods of armed conflict, cultural property may be destroyed and vandalized, which is a serious violation of international humanitarian law and may amount to a war crime under the Rome Statue.

So this research will attempt to shed light on the role played by the ICC as a repressive judicial organ in the protection of such property by tracking the procedures that have been taken by the court during the trial of El-faki case (Mali situation),as a first case concerning cultural property to be considered by the court.
