Abstract EN

The study aimed to detect the effectiveness of a training program for the development of phonological awareness in improving the reading ability of the students of cochlear implants in primary stage in Riyadh.

In this study, the researchers used the semi-experimental approach.

The study sample consisted of (10) female students at the Primary Stage.

The sample was divided into two groups; one is an experimental group and the other is a control group.

The number of members of each group is (5) students.

The researchers used a Literacy scale prepared by them and a training program for phonological awareness "voice" (prepared by the researchers).The reading comprehension scale was applied to both groups.

The training sessions were applied to the experimental group and these lasted for two months at a rate of 6-8 sessions per week.

During the first semester 2016 (1437H).

The reading scale was then applied after that to both groups.

Then applied on the experimental group Consecutively.

The results showed an improvement in the level of reading on the reading ability of the students with Cochlear, in favor of the experimental group.

The study recommends using the training program to develop the phonological awareness as a method for improving reading among cochlear implants and the students with impaired hearing.
