Abstract EN

The study dealt with the political legitimacy of imam al-Juwaini (may god have mercy on him), through clarifying the concept of political legitimacy, definition of imam al-Juwaini, the features of the era in which he lived in, presentation his balance of importation and deriving, his compatibility with the ruling authority, his approach to aligning the requirements of values with the complexities of political reality.

then i presented his method of political legitimacy through his jurisprudence, by clarifying his approach in the legitimacy of establishment, reference and functions, as well as his approach to the legality of the inauguration, the possibility of acquiring or dropping it, in addition to his approach to the legitimacy of practices and achievements.

the study concluded that the political legitimacy is an integrated system that takes into consideration the establishment, inauguration and practice, the vitality and the ability to deal with crises, and that imam al-Juwaini addressed these meanings in different contexts without mentioning their names.

the study recommended to study the thought of imam al-Juwaini and other imams of Islamic political heritage deeply; in order to reach a contemporary Islamic theory that adapts with the challenges of this era.
