This study aims to examine how Saudi youth view the credibility of websites of Saudi institutions as credibility is considered the cornerstone in the ongoing relations between media institutions and their users.
It also aims to determine the dimensions through which these relations are perceived and how other users affect Saudi youth perspectives of such relations.
The study finds that social media networks change the youth communication style because it becomes the most popular and spread as about (%47.5) of the participants use the social media networks for more than 5 hours a day.
The youth perspectives towards these networks seem to be positive.
The credibility dimensions viz.
“trust, experience, truth, personality and objectivity” are important in forming the credibility of institutions which interact through social media networks, besides the new dimensions, i.e.
“the institution reputation, rapidity of participation transparency of communication, altruism, common values and cooperation.” It concludes that participations of other users affect the way Saudi youth perceive the credibility of these social media networks.
They are seen as a neutral party, and here lies the risk of spreading rumors.
