Abstract EN

Perception, imagination and mental images have great importance in architectural designing in analyzing and understanding designing problems.

This is so because of their substantial roles they play in shaping and developing the architectural ideas.

Perception is a means that enables us to communicate with our surrounding environment, making experiences accumulate, and constituting mental images of configurational constructions and elements resulting from previous views by an architectural designer.

So these views are influenced by similar designing problems, information, knowledge and models.

This research aims to study the role of perception, mental images in taking designing decision and the factors influencing it.

To achieve this aim, this research begins with the concept of perception, mental images, imagination, and the analysis of the designing process and the reasons behind taking designing decisions on some selected architectural projects.
