Abstract EN

The core problem of this study is to explore and identify the role of strategic planning and its effectiveness in achieving economic development in Sudan.

The study attempted to reveal the deep roots of this problem; besides identifying the reasons why several ex-governments failed to find clear-cut answers or radical solutions to the problem despite their attempt to achieve economic development in Sudan.

The purpose of the study was to achieve so many objectives in order to offer proposals that aimed at finding a radical solution for the problem.

These proposals included that the poor execution of strategic plan led to inadequate growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP); weak productive sector performance; poor performance of financial and monetary indicators; and the weak performance of the trade balance.

The study adopted the descriptive analytical and the historical methods; as well as observation and deduction.

The study main findings indicated the existence of a correlation between the poor execution of a strategic plan and inadequate growth of Gross Domestic Product indicators; weak productive sector performance; poor performance of financial and monetary indicators; and the weak performance of the trade balance indicators.
