Abstract EN

The research problem examined the extent to which public share companies listed on Khartoum Stock Exchange Market complied with the generally accepted international institutional control rules and the effect of this practice on the Market Value of these companies.

The research aimed at measuring the level of compliance of some public share companies, which are listed on Khartoum Stock Exchange Market to the institutional control rules.

The research most important findings revealed that applying the shareholders rule has an effect on the market value of the public share companies listed on Khartoum Stock Exchange Market; alternatively applying other stakeholders’ rule (i.e., those who are not shareholders) has no effect on the market value of companies listed on Khartoum Stock Exchange.

The research main recommendations include: The call for the public share companies to take into consideration shareholders rights such as the disclosure of the company’s ownership share in other company’s; besides giving priority to the company’s shareholders to subscribe to any new issuances.

Furthermore, the research highly recommended activating the role of other stakeholders in supervising the activities of the companies and provides them with necessary information to activate their role regarding the institutional control, which in turn may encourage the investors.
