Abstract EN

This paper aimed at evaluating the performance of the Zakat Chamber in Blue Nile State and its role in reducing poverty during the period 2005– 2012.

The study adopted the historical, case study, and analytical methods.

The paper main findings pointed to the weak performance of the Zakat Chamber in alleviating or reducing poverty in the State.

The paper calls for developing the mechanism used in the collection and distribution of Zakat to be reflected positively on the performance of the Zakat Chamber.

Moreover, it is necessary to develop vertical services (projects) such as training of beneficiaries and the preparation of feasibility studies in order to promote the benefit from vertical projects.
