Abstract EN

This research focused on role of accounting education in achieving economic development in Sudan, whereas the problem of the study stems from the fact that the accounting profession is based on generally accepted accounting principles through which economic development can be realized in the environment in which this profession is applied.

Nevertheless, there are many challenges and obstacles which impede the accounting education from achieving that role.

The study main results indicated that the promotion of accounting profession in Sudan needs neutral professional organizations that supervise the profession, and issue Sudanese Accounting Standards based on the financial reporting international standard.

Moreover, the ability of the accounting profession to play its required role in the society could be achieved through coordination between accounting education, practice, and scientific accounting researches in Sudan.

The study calls for the state to give more attention for the organization that concerned with developing accounting profession; as well as the recognition of the importance of the accounting information in achieving economic development.
