The debate on the financial sustainability of the world’s pension systems revolves, In its entirety, around the, multi-pillars model proposed by the world bank, studies indicate that there are four important pillars to finance pension systems: non-contributory “zero pillar, a first mandatory general pillar and a second mandatory private pillar (defined contribution or defined benefits), in addition to a third pillar – voluntary pillar, each pillar contains a set of financial Schemes.

Studies indicate that the Algerian pension system adopts the first pillar, but through this study was presented according to the multi-pillars approach of financing.

We aim to clarify the importance of spreading the burden over several pillars to achieve financial sustainability and full coverage with reference to reforms implemented and possible at the level of each pillar.
