Information Literacy is the ability to locate, manage and use information effectively to meet the needs of multiple beneficiaries, and it is the key skill that enables them to make effective decisions, solve problems and conduct research, It also enables them to be responsible for their continuing education in their professional interests.

Information Literacy is therefore a necessary requirement for effective participation in the information and knowledge community.

The importance of the subject comes from the role played by information in the building of communities, for it becomes the real force that makes who own the power the strongest, From this and that, the study under question discusses the concept of information awareness, skills and programs in the interactive digital environment among the students of the University of Khartoum (the following colleges: Arts, Economics, Science, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy), The study raises the following questions: What is the level of Information Literacy among the students of the University of Khartoum? What are the required roles of university libraries to achieve Information Literacy programs? Is there any bodies act as informational awareness other than university libraries? Are they achieving this purpose? The study uses the analytical descriptive and the survey methods, besides the case study, while adopting the questionnaire as a major tool in data collection.

The results of the study are as follow: The respondents of the University of Khartoum students enjoy a high level of Information Literacy Most of the respondents believe that the information is very important in solving scientific problems and making decisions, Most of the surveyed students from Khartoum University succeeded in accessing the information they needed when they were looking for it in a timely and appropriate manner, Most of the respondents have high skills to use information, The concept of Information Literacy is the ability to use information technology and information circulation, the respondents from Khartoum University students confirmed that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is the responsible to develop Information Literacy programs.
