Researchers in the history of Algeria in the Ottoman era can not do without reference to the Western sources of that period, which include the writings of prisoners and consuls, clerics and travelers ...Writings of people who visited Algeria for certain purposes, recorded everything that can be noticed or heard.

The present study tackles one of the writings of the European journey literature.

It is the journey of the German J.E.

Habenstreit, who visited Algeria in the first half of the 18th century in the framework of Scientific mission to collect samples of the region’s animals and plants.

This trip is one of the most important trips that spoke about Algeria in the Ottoman era, because it contains important information and historical facts that covers various aspects of the history of Algeria (politically, economically and socially ...).

This study deals with the German scholar Habenstreit trip.

It is divided into two parts, supported by sources and references dealing with the same subject, to emphasize its importance as an important source for the study of the history of Algeria.

It also tackles a range of situations that characterized it during that period.
