Abstract EN

The city of Mosul Characterized by a good geographical location that made it a civilized and eminent center from which the scientists and men of letters of every arts appeared; one of them was the poetry which is considered one of the literary arts composed by the poets of Mosul in many purposes such as :praise, satire, elegy, and erotic.

Also, there were other poetic arts as each of enigmas and puzzles; one who was famous for this art the poet called Afif Al-Deen Ali bin Adlan Al-Mosuli who was excellent in literature and he also unmatched in deciphering the enigmas and puzzles whereas he had a lot of classifications in this field.

Moreover; he had poetic correspondences about the enigmas among scientists of his period in the cities which he visited such as: Aleppo, Damascuss, and Cairo; as well as he was a narrator, grammarian, and linguist.
