Abstract EN

There were several factors that made Mahmoud Ghazan making his economic reforms in Iran.

Since the time he had access to the throne, Mahmoud Ghazan realized that establishing a strong state requires important economic reforms.

He inherited a kingdom which was in a very bad situation.

What had been destroyed and ruined by his ancestors was not repaired; the kingdom treasury was fully empty and its people led a difficult life, suffering poverty as a result of successive wars.

Henceforth, Mahmoud Ghazan had to unburden his people and to establish absolute justice.

Drastic reforms had to be done, uprooting all the miseries the people suffered by his ruthless ancestors sultans.

Mahmoud Ghazan endeavored to change the dark side of life into more brightful ones, restoring peace and security for the people and their properties.

The researcher divides the research into an introduction, three sections, a conclusion, and an index.

The introduction deals with the geographical position of Iran, the biography of Mahmoud Ghazan, and how he converted to Islam.

The second section includes financial reforms during Mahmoud Ghazan reign, his most important achievements in taxation, coinage, prohibiting usury, and controlling weights and measures.

The third section tackles Mahmoud Ghazan's policy in the development of industry and trade in Iran.

The research concludes with the results arrived at during the research.

The index includes names and periods of Elkins ruling of Iran.
