DNA analysis is considered to be one of the most reliable scientific ways to prove kinship, in order to ascertain the truth and apply the principles of justice which form the basis of the legal system.

However, this technique cannot be used to disrupt legal proceedings, as mentioned by the legislator in article 40/01 of Family Law, nor is it allowed to use it in order to cast doubt upon marriages and stable lineages, and challenge the trust between husband and wife.

Therefore, the admissibility of DNA analysis results requires the availability of a range of legitimate and legal parameters.
