Abstract EN

The study area(AL-Zubadat Area) is located at the southern east part from Iraq, it lies between the two latitudes (32º 08ˉ - 32º 29ˉ) N.

and the two longitudes (47º 13ˉ -47º 34ˉ) E.

According to Geography, it lies towards east from Maysan Governorate beside AL-Teib River from the north and Dwaireage River from the south, while from the east, it is at the borders of Islamic Iranian Republic.

From the west, it is located at Tigris river with area (820 km2 ).

The study was based on the aerial photos and space visuals beside the Topographical maps that cover the area and its workfield, in addition to the use of recent G.I.S.,V.10 programmes.

Then, the study classified the land forms into five geomorphological units like: units of structural denudation origin(hills, hogback, cuesta and mesa), units of denudation origin ( badlands, valleys and caves), units of fluvial origin( alluvial fans, plain areas, Al-Snaf marsh, mud cracks and crevasse splay), units of aeolian origin( sand dunes(barchans), saffe dunes, nebkha dunes, sand sheets and ripple marks) and geomorphological units of anthropogenic (archaeological hills, gravel quarry, sand and military observatories) because the area was military operations work field between Iraq and Iran for the duration(1980-1988).

Thus, it includes mines field and the left military munitions.
