It is widely known that the Algerian economy has always depended on oil and gas, which presents a major threat to development in case of prices decline in the international markets for a long time, in the absence of a strategy that requires diversification of income sources.

That is the case since 2014, or the Oil Shock.

Subsequently, alternative solutions ought to be considered and decisions had to be taken thereupon.

Algeria, like all other countries weakened by this shock, has resorted to several alternatives such as promoting local products, reducing imports and diversifying exports, particularly energy and non-traditional such as Shale Gas, which has caused a controversy because of its effects on the environment
