Abstract EN

This study aimed at identifying the attitudes of Sana'a University students towards psychotherapy and the differences in the level of their attitudes according to these demographic variables: gender, specialization and study level.

To achieve this objective, the researcher developed a questionnaire in order to measure the students’ attitudes.

The questionnaire consisted of 32 items and was distributed to a sample of 400 students selected from 2 science colleges (Engineering and Agriculture) and 2 humanities colleges (Law and Commerce and Economics).

The participants were 200 males and 200 females selected equally from level I and level II in the four colleges.

The statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data obtained from the sample.

The study findings revealed that the respondents’ attitude towards psychotherapy is generally above the average in a positive way.

Also, there were no statistically significant differences in the level of the attitude towards psychotherapy due to the variables of gender and specialization (science and humanities).

However, there were statistically significant differences in the level of students’ attitude towards psychotherapy due to the study level variable (first - fourth) in favor of the fourth level.

Based on the results of the study, the review of theoretical framework and previous studies, the researcher proposed a set of pertinent recommendations and suggestions.
