The novel space is one of the basic components of the novel.

It is one of the internal structures of the novel as it is a large linguistic structure composed of several minor structures.

The space is also a sign that helps in reading the novel, with its various components, from a particular perspective.

The Journey of Ibn Fattouma by Naguib Mahfouz is a creative work of travel litterature which includes issues of life and existence of the Arabs reality with its pros and cons that accompany the human in a time and place.

The novel space includes a wider and more comprehensive perception of place and its reltionship with components of the story and discourse including a large number of linguistic signs through their functions and non-linguistic signs through the manifestations of the text space.

These are signs that refer us to other signs in each reading.

This paper provides a semiotic study of the novel space in The Journey of Ibn Fattouma by Naguib Mahfouz as a synchronous space based on simulation through events.

It has a symbolic function depending on its manifestations within the novel.

This function gives the novel multiple interpretive possibilities in addition to its effective impact on other components.

It contributes to the aesthetics of storytelling as symbolic structures that carry expressive and artistic values.

It serves to achieve the aims of the novelist through semantic intensification and symbolic implications based on the semiotics of narrative space that involves time and place and their interaction with other elements.

The paper focuses on the concepts of space and semiotics, the significance of place in light of semiotics, the significance of time in light of semiotics, the significance of the active character in the novel space, and the semiotics of the narrative language and its levels in the novel.
