Abstract EN

This study deals with an important topic in Arabic grammar, which is exception.

Exception in Arabic is strongly related to the principles of jurisprudence and grammatical and rhetorical heritage.

I examine exception in the poetry of one of the most significant Arab poets, known as the knight of sword and pen, Abu at-Tayyib al-Mutanabbi.

Al-Mutanabi's poetry is rich in grammatical and linguistic issues and in this study the main focus is on exception.

The study presents a syntactic analysis of tools and types of exception in Al-Mutanabi's poetry reinforced by statements and views of grammarians.

The reason for choosing this topic is to show the reader that Al-Mutanabi's poetry is replete with grammatical and linguistic issues which can be studied by researchers.

Al-Mutanabi used almost all tools and types of exception in his poetry.

The study employs an analytical descriptive approach due to the nature of the study.
