Abstract EN

The purpose of the research is to shed light on the efforts of Sheikh Shibli al-Nu'mani (1274 AH-1835 AH- 1332 AH 1914) in response to orientalists and their orientalist works.

The researcher criticized orientalists and their works, revealing their fabrications about the Prophet's biography and the biography of the famous Muslim scholars through his book "The biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him)" that was originally written in Urdu, in order to refute their views by scrutinizing their contradictory reports and comparing the texts of their oriental works with the primary sources of the books of the Bible, the Gospel, the books of Hadiths and the biographies.

Besides, the researcher made use of the writings of impartial orientalists and their views and attitudes towards the Prophet's biography.

The research consists of four areas.

The first described the life of Sheikh Shibli al-Nu'mani: his birth, his religious background, and his scientific work.

The second dealt with the Shibli al-Nu'mani's book "The Biography of the Prophet", while the third section was devoted to the attitude of Shibli al-Nu'mani towards the orientalists and his scholarly activities in response to their false arguments.

The researcher concluded the importance of the role played by Sheikh Shibli and his book "The Biography of the Prophet" in response to Orientalists, refuting their fabrications and presenting true and bright image of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the famous Islamic figures whose images were distorted by the orientalists.

Furthermore, Shibli formed a movement to defend the Messenger of Allah, which was extended to future generations and joined by many Muslim scholars and thinkers in India.
