It is essential to conduct a preliminary examination as soon as a case is referred to the Office of the Prosecutor of the ICC to determine the existence of information giving a reasonable basis for the initiation of an investigation against the criteria required by the Rome status.
In this process, the Prosecutor undertakes specific procedures to determine the jurisdiction of the Court and will then decide whether there is a good reason to rule.

Il est indispensable de conduire un examen préliminaire dès qu’une affaire est soumise au bureau du procureur de la CPI afin de déterminer l’existence d’informations donnant une base raisonnable à l’ouverture d’une enquête au regard des critères exigés par le statut de Rome.
Lors de ce processus, le procureur entreprend des procédures précises dans le but de déterminer la compétente de la Cour et décidera, ensuite, s’il existe une bonne raison de se statuer.
