Abstract EN

The Algerian legislator has enshrined the principle of participator)' democracy through various legal texts in order to involve and integrate civil society in local decision-making as well as in the management of local affairs in accordance with the local governance policy, despite the dedication and the new trend adopted by the legislator to bring citizens closer to the administration.

However in practice the exercise of this right is limited because of the imbalance resulting from the permanent monopoly of decision makers at the local level, as well as the local administration only informs the citizen without actually integrating it into the conduct of local development.
