Abstract EN

Even though child rights convention has been adopted, international efforts remain scattered and incapable of defining the main characteristics for juvenile justice at the international level.

This study sheds light on international charters specific of juveniles.

It examines and analyzes them thoroughly in order to identify the standard frame of international system in child justice.

In order to explain the main characteristics of this system, the study aims to extract the general bases and principles applicable to practice in countries internal legal systems and assign its obligatory legal power.

The study concludes that the international community has reached an advanced level in handling juveniles and has changed its approach from the philosophy of justice by punishment to rehabilitation and allow participation in decision making as well as enacting the legal system to ensure justice of judicial proceedings in alternative punishment systems and focuses on social integration.
