Abstract EN

This study analyzes the issue of the Western Sahara conflict, which is the most important regional conflict on the African continent.

The conflict lasted more than forty years without a solution that satisfies conflicting parties.

The study shows international and regional changes that have affected the parties of the conflict and the conflict mechanisms and changes that have hampered the chances of a solution.

The study used the historical, comparative and legal approach in reaching and answering the hypothesis of the study, namely that there is a correlation between the weighting of the conflict resolution scenario (partition, autonomy, or the international scenario) in the Western Sahara conflict and the positions of the parties to the conflict, as well as the nature and essence of the scenario itself.

The study found that each scenario presented for solution has opportunities and limitations.

The latter scenario that is introduced by the United Nations may have an opportunity in the short and long term.

The reasons that hampered the solution.

The study found out that is the international attitudes associated with the absence of urgent interest to resolve the conflict, as well as the hard positions of the conflicting parties.
