Abstract EN

This paper has tackled permissible omission in Arabic language and traced down its types in the poems of Majnun Laylaa (Qays bin Almuluh a poet who went mad because of Laylaa's love).

Furthermore, it reviewed types of omission which have been given emphasis by grammarians particularly omission of sentence, singular word, letter, and inflection (changing form of word).

I t also illustrated the effect of omission types in connotation of poetic texts and their cohesion.

Descriptiveanalytical approach was employed.

A number of results were found out by the study; some of the important ones were: all types of omission which have been focused by the grammarians being mentioned in the poems of Majnun Laylaa for different purposes.

The omission has remarkable role in attainment of ellipsis, cohesion of text by means of repetition and situational references.

The omission has remarkable role in sense of rhythm and in formulating Tafilaat (special patterns of couplet) through which make poems' rhythm smooth.
